I am a Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response specialist with 20+ years of experience in both humanitarian and development settings. I do provide capacity building trainings, onsite and remote technical support on program establishment, system building, gender and protection mainstreaming and rolling out of community mobilization strategies/approaches support to community-based organizations/NGOs, INGO’s, government organizations and UN agencies. I am part of the global technical advisors’ team under Raising Voices for the implementation of SASA! Strategy, surge roster of UNFPA, UN Women VAW roster, Canadem and MSB (Sweden) rosters. Currently I am consulting the Norwegian Red Cross and establishing of health services for survivors of SGBV. I have been supporting agencies in Africa mostly in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Angola, CAR and Somalia, Europe in Macedonia and South East Asia specifically in Myanmar. I am also involved in the GBV Prevention Network for East and South African countries and a member of the advisory committee. Furthermore, I have the experience of establishing internal reporting system on SEA and disability including on programming to mitigate risk of GBV and promote safe environment and safe access to services.
I am native Amharic speaker and I can also fluently speak Tigrigna, Afan Oromo, English and basic Arabic.
